WHO
WE ARE
We are fourth-year Electronics engineering students at SFU working on a simulation of MANET for Video Streaming application
About this project
Over the decades the trend for video transmission has changed from analog to digital media, initially videos were recorded beforehand to be transmitted in the analog format. With the emergence of technology in the communication networks, the trend has shifted towards streaming videos online. People of all age groups in the 21st century prefer streaming of videos online as their main source of entertainment besides other means of entertainment such as radio, cable network or network, etc. Ad hoc networks (MANET), provide an efficient service for traffic-intensive tasks such as video streaming. MANET being based on Peer-to-Peer architecture, has the capability to configure itself without the need of a centralized router, therefore the exchange of data is relatively faster than the traditional structure. The vision for this project is to simulate a MANET network and to analyze it for its performance parameters such as data transfer rates, packet loss, delays, scalability, throughput, mobility, congestion and re-transmission attempts

Data gathered
Mobility Variance
Higher number of nodes
Routing Protocol Comparison
Higher mobile nodes performed better for traffic throughput, which is contrary to our expectations
Higher the number of nodes, higher the amount of traffic sent
AODV Routing protocol had the highest traffic sent and received for video streaming in comparison with OLSR and DSR
